Today was the odd kind of storm brewing weather that was cold then warm so everything is all moist and humid.. Welcome to Memphis. We decided to take it to South Memphis to try and find some spots we've never seen. We were somewhat successful in looking at some spots. Hamilton High had some pretty gnarly rails and a ditch with potential. Airways Middle had these tall ass rails that Forest and Darius may have been the first skateboarders to fuck with. And somehow, South Memphis led us to South Haven and to the High School there for.... another rail! That of course only Darius and Forest skated. Sometimes skating street involves not skating...

Cracktown, this spot is really fun but today it was really wet. Its hard to see but where the crack in the wall is, its actually a lip you can grind.

Little Rock, Bambei Gets Savage!

Warm weather for a winter day, good crew, Kanis, Street, Riverview, Vino's! Took it to Kanis and had an all out jam with just the crew we drove up with Bambei, Tnell, Swamp, Sippy, and Me. Will Erhle met us up there too. There are a few new and newer things at Kanis like the doorway grind and the steep quarter. They also recently built a polejam and a ledge. We were actually able to ride the hole too. Sick lines going down by Bambei, and Jack and Swamp were getting some too. Jack was raging fs grinds around the shallow pocket which is pretty steep and ultra crusty. Swamp getting fs airs off the hip and I even got a little in the deep end. When we went to get some food, we decided to bomb down Battery, in the car... Tnell said he thought he may wanna go for it so we stopped. Bambei didn't think twice and just took off down the hill. If you have ever seen that hill you know how fucked up it really is and only a bad ass would go down it. He made it down and wanted one more go, but Battery fought back and Bambei got severely served! He caught speed wobble and fell, sliding about 15 feet and ripping everything from his skin, to his pants and shirt! We went to Vino's after that and stuffed ourselves with calzones and pizza, and had several chugging contests with they're awesome beer. After establishing a cool buzz, we took it to the streets. Bambei got good and loaded to make sure he wasn't feeling any pain. First spot was Double Tree banks, sick brick banks that have been in a few pro videos. We got a few lines there, Tnell shut it down with a kickflip into the first bank, then down the set, and front 360 into the bigger bank. We went over to the Pavilion because it was close and we were losing light. Kicked it off with a stair sesh that Swamp even got down on with street grabs and boneless down the 8! Jack was being a pussy and wouldn't ollie over the handrail with me so Bambei of all people, broke off and pretty inebriated, stepped up and popped over the smaller set rail, and then the bigger set rail! Bambei is FUCKING SAVAGE! Since it got dark, we decided to hit River View for a couple of runs and maybe a beer or two! The session continued to go off with Jack speed lining the bowl and Swamp doing Swamp Stomps everywhere. All and all, it was yet another epic day in Little Rock! That place is fucking great, even if we always get eaten alive when we go there! SPRING BREAK FOOL!

Today was the nicest day of the week so far so of course we were lurking our skatepark. Gotta love the fact that you can go up to the park, and see all the homies skating. This picture just reminds me of what a rad crew I have to skate with. Little Jack came up getting picked on so hard by us,still does, but that man rips so hard. Jed is one of the best skateboarders to ever come out of Memphis, just natural with great style. And Bambei is savage as fuck. Binger and BMK and Portland invade Memphis!!

I know its been a while since my last post, thats because all of the homies from the Northwest came to the dirty south and stayed for a few weeks. It is always super good to see BMK and Binger, especially back home. It really brings a lot of people together, I guess they tend to have that effect. This is pretty much a gang of photos from when they were in town. A lot happened, and only a few pictures were taken, but I think Jordan is working on an edit of the trip. We skated Memphis a ton, ate BBQ, had a kegger, it snowed, we went to Kanis and Riverview, partied, skated, partied, skated... You get the idea..

Got to go down to Ferraros Pizza and drink a bunch of pints with my dad, and then went to the Memphis game, which was a slaughter..

Apparently the city wants to be total turds about this whole helmet thing so just do it, arguing isn't going to help. Helmets aren't comfortable, and most of us aren't used to wearing one. Grand Opening!!! Thee Oh Sees!!! CARDIEL!!!!

Yesterday was the official grand opening ceremony for the skatepark. It was a huge turn out which really shows the city that the community appreciates the effort for finally giving us a place. This will help in the long run for future parks to be built in the area... Its been so sick meeting up with old friends from SPOM days past that I haven't skated with in forever. Also just vibing with new folks is sick too. There are so many hips and dips at the park that everyone is trying to get on some John Cardiel shit and charge it harder than ever! Just hear someone yelling "CARDIEL" means get the fuck out of the way because someone is barging it! The mayor was on the scene to talk and Central BBQ catered which was super cool! After a hectic jam session at the park, a few of us hung out and talked about the stoke of the day, and then went to see SF's Thee Oh Sees. They are an awesomely noisy garage psychedelic band that always brings the heat. Super fun with Brooke and Grant while Darius and I got the crowd hyper! Super awesome day yesterday, looking forward to more of that in the future.

The park was unofficially opened this weekend and we have been up there getting it. It was a huge crowd today. Everyone showed up to ride, which was cool, just really hectic. Some folks were fully destroying the place today too, Dump, Jack, Josh Stewert, Cole, just to name a few. Hella lines!

Woke up today planning on skating, Lil Jack hit me up saying they were going to barge Tobey today. I told him it was probably a bust but we went anyway. When we got there, the park was packed and the gate was open, it was open! So happy to finally be able to ride that place without jumping the fence. It was also sick that the place was packed with homies. So tomorrow, and every other day, I will be there slashing. Thanks Memphis, my city finally came through!

I had a killer weekend! The Altown benefit, I unfortunately had to miss, but went over really well, Thanks for everyone who came out. I went down to Arkansas for a fishing trip for my grandfather's birthday! It was a super fun time, just like last year. We caught and released all day, and all and all caught 54 fish that still live in the river! I later went to Little Rock on my way home to kick it with Will, the homie. Vino's, Kanis, and beer! Went and skated all day yesterday. It was beautiful outside, we have really lucked out with some mild weather recently. Hit up various spots, including Altown, and went and scoped out some street spots and even found a new one. Always fun to find something unskated, thats actually good, in my home town. Went with Jed and Bambei to Hornlake which was interesting to say the least. Either way it was a fun day, sometimes its best to not have a plan, you get more done that way.

About 20 people crashed the Trife House this past weekend for the premier of the crew video called, Embrace The Suck. About 5 guys from St. Louis, 2 from Little Rock, and maybe 10 or so from Nashville, not a bad session. The homies showed up even thicker for the actual viewing of the video. It went over really well, lots of high energy. It was sick, well done to all the skaters in the video and to Hammond for putting it together. I don't think our living room has crammed so many people in it at once, 30+ for the viewing.

Nashville kids everywhere getting weird!

The STL and Nashville guys went on a rampage, I saw STL kill the spot, and Nashville, as usual, went on a street mission and fucked things up. I even got a sick clip with them for the new Thriving on High Fives video. It was a super fun weekend. I'm always excited to have the homies in town. They get the session going, and all of them kill it!

Flat Bottoms are Down!

Went by tobey today to scope out some more progress. Im getting more anxious than ever trying to skate this place. Well it looks like the flats are in both bowls, from the spot i was standing it was hard to see the bigger bowl but i think it was done too. The snake bowl is fully done and it looks good. Should be fast. Thanks again Mike Lassiter for stepping in and getting the design to look sick. Oh, theres some stairs too, looks like a very minimal amount of roll away though, who knows, its not finished.

Here is a look at the park as it stands today. It won't open until December 1st because Memphis is Fucking Lame and won't have the insurance policy in affect until then. So, the flat bottoms won't be poured until the week before opening, Thanks alot. Instead of opening an outdoor facility in the nice weather, we will now have a park opening in the cold winter with minimal day light. Sounds great. With that being said, the park does look like a really good time. So, I guess we just have to wait. Whats 3 more months when I've been waiting 13 years?

More progress on the park as the "questionable" at best street design begins to take form. The Jersey barrier object is pretty jacked looking if you ask me but hey, we like it like that. Nothing should be too easy. The bowls are almost fully poured except for the flat bottoms and the decks surrounding them. They look super fun except the shallow ends are so mellow you could pop actual tricks into them. Its hard to tell but it also looks like they may have messed up the big extension, the pour doesn't look consistent all the way across. If it weren't for Mike Lassiter, the snake bowl wouldn't bowl out at the end, so that is a major improvement because that pocket looks super fun.

This is a handrail i suppose, but the bank ledge thing behind it is the real slash.

This is sort of an overview of the bowl. If you look at the far side of the extension, it looks kinda banked out before it goes to vert. Could be an illusion.

Just some more pictures from today. Looks like in a 5 day period they have done quite a lot. The "big bowl" looks done except for the extension and the flat bottom. And they have poured about half of the snake bowl too as well as some street stuff.

I am stoked that skateboarding has become popular to an extent. Its funny to see how people that would have once hated it, are now stoked on it. Oh well. Thats rad that people change their minds, I just wonder for what reason. I usually hate this guy to the max with his ultra annoying songs and retarded fan base, but I actually gained a small amount of respect when I saw this video. I was laughing about the injury at first and then when I saw the smile on his face after he did a little thruster to fakie on a vert wall, I changed my mind. Glad this fool is sharing the stoke on something other than some sucky rap songs and a cup of szyrup. And Thrasher says that they got 50$ and an interview in the mag if he ollies the Double Rock double set by the end of the year. I bet hes got it, if nothing else a Jfloat.

New Stuff at the Spot!

I had to bail early to go to work today so as I type this, the work is still going on. I put in a few hours and shit is looking so cool! Very unique free forming from the mind of Wrex Cook. The real Altown foreman! Ham collected 500$ donations (thanks to all who contributed) and got 4 yards of crete to pour a manny pad/ up ledge, and Wrex's Dragon Tail! Couldn't do it without the all the heads that showed up to help out, you know who you are. Thanks to the people that didn't show up as usual, you know who you are too. This is Sick!

Just getting started? Hardly. Hammond and minions worked all week to get ready for today.

It started raining, Jordan made a quick run to home depot for some plastic cover, and the team work began. These guys stood in the rain while we troweled out some of the crete. The rain eventually let up and all is well.

This is a rad thing we have going here. I'm stoked to see everyone come together for something like this. Here are a few more progress photos to keep you stoked. Can't wait until this gets built, even if we are getting ripped off on the "big bowl." It was supposed to be 8 to 10 feet, now its more like 6 to 8 foot. Even so, it will be fun with a lot of pool block to shred. Fuck it, we got something.

Also, there will be a big pour at the spot on Saturday the 20th. Show up so that we can make a better spot for all of us to enjoy. Thanks for the support.

Progress on the Skatepark..

Went by the soon to be Memphis Skatepark yesterday, talked with the crew a bit and then Bambei and I bought em some brews and went about our day. The place is looking really good so far. I can't wait until its done!

Good Dips, and hips, and all the steel is in. The deeper bowl will be all pool blocks! Although we thought it would be deeper (10 feet) its only gunna be 8 feet. Oh well, at least its pool block. This place looks like it will be pretty fast too.

Then shit gets weird!! We went to the spot when it cooled down some and the homie Ulander took a mighty spill that ended up in a concussion and a trip to the hospital. He hit his head pretty hard attempting to drop in on the deathbox, which is no joke! He looked pretty bad at first but Chris is a beast and all is well for him! Thankfully it didn't get worse..

Skatepark of Memphis

The new park is coming along nicely. Its pretty exciting after all these years that the city is finally about to do some good for the skateboard community. Im happy to see the project coming along. It is scheduled to be done sometime in September but who knows if that will actually happen. With the progress I have seen over the last couple weeks though, it is a possibility. I went by the future skatepark yesterday and snapped a couple of quick cell phone shots of the progress, I will also be going by every couple of days from now on to keep posting up some pictures. I need to get over there when nobody is working so I can get up in the mix and get better photos. The park so far looks small but looks like it has a lot of potential to be a really good time. Wrex is Pro!!

Wrex being a professional skateboarder is old news to most of us, but did you know that he is also a pro crete slapper? Wrex came down to Memphis on Saturday, met up with a few dedicated souls and got out there, braving 100 degree heat, to pour the other side of the spine. Not only did they do that, they hipped out the side! It is looking really good although they did not have enough crete to finish the job. We only need about 10 more bags, 30$ or so worth of crete to finish it out. It is a perfect pour, one that could not have been done without Wrex's guidance. Thanks a lot to Mike as well for coming through with a generator so we could cut into the foundation to make a flush pour. I was able to hang out for about an hour and mostly get in the way/hold up the shade sheet before going to work. This spot is really coming together and it really couldn't happen without the dedication of the Cook's, and all the trife street and Memphis homies, the donations, and the neighbor's who love to see what we are doing. We seem to have really lucked out this time around so be grateful, and use it before it isn't there.

Over 100 brews, Bday party

We couldn't go anywhere without crammin 6 or 7 deep in a car, i'm the smallest so i end up on the floor.

But it's all worth it to skate Hood River, Bingin, and Drink at Double Mountain, and then camp on a mountain on the Zig Zag river

Some of the crew had to work so we got the car and actually didn't have to cram to head to the coast. Lincoln City Skatepark, the beach, Newburg and Mcminnville all in one day! Woooo

You can get a nickle per can and bottle, so after the amount of brew we drank all 2 weeks, me and BMK came up on some loot

Red threw a benefit jam at the Bridge and the lurkers gathered. After the jam heavy metal parking lot got weird, then Grindline the band played a killer after party downtown, mayhem.

4th of July came and Will and I started the day off early with Beermosas (Hamm's and OJ, classy) and our shirts off. We didn't have any fire works because we suck so we just set some shit on fire in the back yard.

This was an amazing time getting to see old friends, make new ones, and shred the shit out of the North West! Thanks a lot to Rocco, BMK, and Binger for sharing the house with 8 or more lurks everynight, thanks to Pod for going Huge, and thanks a lot to Jamie Weller for building an amazing Skatepark and giving us the permission to come ride it. Im speaking of Windells, probably the funnest park ever built, fuck what ya heard!

Go Skateboard Day!!! R.I.P. Altown

Go Skateboarding Day marks the one year anniversary of Altown being officially taken from us. The sesh was going to be epic and we were shut down by none other than the man. Fuck The Police, Fuck Lt. Dan, and Fuck that guy that bought Altown from under us! But, the light at the end of the tunnel keeps getting brighter and brighter as the new spot is maybe even better than the old one, and we haven't been at it nearly as long. We all know that if we want to, we can mob super hard at the new Altown and nobody will shut us down. And giving Altown as a sacrifice meant that A.C. got on the ball and we have just broken ground on the public Memphis skatepark, a long needed spot. Thanks alot to the Mayor of Memphis for caring about us, and giving a shout out to our hard work and determination to have a spot for everyone to shred. Everyday that I go to the spot, I see new kids hanging out skating, some for the first time. Its all good, keep the old spot, because we can go wherever we want. WILD IN THE STREETS!

Weekly Brew Review

Since my homie Black Metal Kevin has been slackin super hard on his weekly brew review (meaning i'm pretty sure he only did one,) i'm going to do a review of my own. Do Check his house blog though for sick videos and maybe another brew review some day. So here it is, the first brew I chose to review is the ever classic Busch 40 ouncer, with a side of Lazy Magnolia Brewery's Southern Pecan.

Brown Bag Special

The first thought I had when I cracked open this familiar brew was, damn this isn't that cold! That's alright though because Busch never lets me down. It is the way to go if you are going to stay on the budget because it is a better flavor than Bud or High Life and won't fill you up as fast. PBR is a pretty decent match but it sucks unless its in a draft or 12oz bottle. Busch can be enjoyed in every packaging. In this case it was satisfying however not "as cold as a mountain stream" but either way it was still "as smooth as it's name" whatever thats supposed to mean.

The next brew on this review is Lazy Magnolia's Southern Pecan. It is obvious due to its name a brown ale brewed with real pecans. I believe Abita was the first brewery to use actual pecans in the brewing process but Lazy does a good job as well. I have had this beer both in a bottle and on draft. I prefer the bottle but the draft is a close second. It has a sweet aroma and a very smooth taste and finish, subtle hints of pecans the whole time. This will run you around 7.99 a sixer so its not exactly budget brew or anything but its well worth the shot. If you can find it, try another brew by them called Indian Summer, its a great one.

So that does it with this Brew Review, hope BMK doesn't mind I snaked his idea but hes a square anyway. I also had a Coors Light, nothing to write home about. Light, Cold, and somewhere along the way, you get a Buzz.

While im stuck out east dog sittin for the parents, Hammond, Wrex, Kim, and a few other homies sweat it out super hard yesterday to do some Altown repairs. The crew showed up hella early to try and beat the heat, they poured beside the existing quarter to go flush with the wall on the half done wall ride extension and added a parking block to the top of the soon to be spine. As well as adding more crete to the spine to smooth it out. These guys worked hard and do work hard everytime they are out there. Its pretty much the same crew everytime but we all know, when shit gets done, everyone will show up. Thats all good, we just keep on pouring, just pass some donations or we can't keep this going.

The spot is finally starting to dry itself up. We pumped it a few different times and it is starting to pay off. Instead of being one massive swamp the water is receding into smaller individual puddles. If you have some time go up there and sweep it towards the middle so that we can be skating again hopefully by Sunday or Monday. Get To Work.

Rained Out Fishin Trip

Went down to Heber Springs, Arkansas to fish the Little Red River for trout. We had gotten a guide in the past and the crew caught plenty of fish. This time was a different story. It has been raining like crazy for the past week or so. The river was flooded and full of mud and silt making it really difficult, even with a guide, to catch fish. We went for it anyway and out of 6 people we only caught a total of 10 fish. It also poured on us the whole time. The time spent was fun though, especially considering the conditions. I ended up catching 3 trout, 2 brown and 1 rainbow. There was a few bets going, 1st bet was for the 1st trout caught, 5$. 2nd bet was biggest trout caught, 5$. I ended up winning both, 50$! So even though we got rained out the second day of the trip, and I'm home a day early, the trip was fun, regardless of winning any kind of money.

Kim and Wrex are homies with Baker and Pod, I also know Pod to a certain degree, and he is good homies with Binger since Bing has been on a killing spree in Portland! I haven't got the issue yet but I did recieve a picture of the Cover shot. It appears to be Portland hero Jamie Weller gettin a smith at Hood River. Terry decided it was time and ordered new federal pool coping for the bowl. Thats not all though, he also decided to go ahead and extend the extension around the left hand pocket. Making it even more pool coping to shralp! Should be done for the Wednesday night session, stoked to get freshies on those blocks! Terry and Mike are RAD!

Got a call from Chet Childress yesterday in the AM. Wrex Cook passed him my number and said he wanted to shred because he was in town. It was cool to get the call that some folks actually wanted to hit up my town. Luckily I was off work for the day and could show them around. I gave Chet directions to the new spot. I waited for around an hour and a half and then figured they were over it and weren't going to call. I did eventually get a text sayin we decided to head to Little Rock. Of course they did, LR is sick as hell! So I text him back and said, well, I'll see you there. So with nobody able to go last minute, I loaded up the car, and Bernard (my dog) and I were about to hit the road. My girlfriend Brooke got her shift covered and decided to ride with. As I was pumping gas to leave, Mark Patrick hit me up and jumped in too. We showed up about 20 minutes behind Chet and crew at Kanis and got the session going. Those dudes were tearing Kanis to bits! Grant Taylor was there just shreddin super hard. I got in the bowl and got a few new ones as well. We kicked it at Kanis for a bit and then hit Vinos up for some pizza and beer. Called Will up to catch back up with the group and they were at ZaZa's where Will works. We met up there to eat more pizza and drink more beer and then it was off to the Indoor. Needless to say, the vert ramp was owned by Grant, Chet, Pat Mclain, and local hero Lyndell. Haney even got a double line with Grant, with Grant doing a huge BS air over his grind. Sick times were had in Little Rock as usual. Thanks Wrex for hooking Chet up with my number so we could shred. Thanks Chet and crew for showing the south some love. And Thanks Daniel Haney for letting us ride your park!

So yesterday, Sunday, we got in the car to go to Little Rock. It was supposed to be wet and former Arcade Skateboards pro, Daniel Haney has recently built an indoor park up there. Its nothing but slash zone. Theres a few things for street like a huge euro and a perfect pyramid, and a bank to ledge. The park is really small but those guys are awesome and used the space wisely. If you looked at a former blog post there were maybe a few photos of it being built. It still isn't fully finished and that means it isn't open yet. Daniel was nice enough to let the Trife crew come up and shred though. Hammond and I put in a small amount of work to at least lend a hand. The vert ramp though. Ive never skated a vert ramp really. I dropped into one once but thats it. Wrex and Lyndal were fucking that thing up though. They obviously skated one before. It was a super fun session and everyone got a trick even though we all thought we wouldn't do anything but drop in.

FU CRUE Invades Trife Street

This past weekend has been pretty crazy with the invasion of our house by the FU Crue of Nashville. I talked to Shane on Wednesday and he informed me that it was about 9 of them coming down. I thought that was a bunch but 9 turned into 13. Sounds pretty hectic but we had a really fun time. Other than the fact that when skating with a crew of 15 or more, everything takes a really long time, gas station stops, waking up, getting food, and when you are at the spot. This also means that no matter what spot you go to, someone is gunna shred it. We skated hard everyday, and partied just as hard. FU shut Memphis down, enough said. Tricks went down that have never been done and who knows if they will happen again at some of Memphis' classic crust spots. Big props to all the homies that came into Memphis to shred. Joe, Andrew, Ethan, Dathan, Shane, Cameron, Zorro, Big Dan, Angel, Christian, Wesley Breakin The Lawson, and I feel like i've forgotten someone. It was fun, Hope to see you guys soon!

This is one of the first spots we hit when everyone showed up. The first car was in town Thursday night, so we actually hit a bunch of spots on Friday before the rest got here. I somehow lost a picture of Joe gettin a 180 Nosegrind 180 out on the Vance kinked ledge, that was a sick one. This steep ass bank with a hole in the bottom has seen very few successful roll aways. A long time ago, BCB crew Joeseph did a kickflip into it and it was amazing. Years later, kickflips are common. The FU Crue steers clear of common and ABDs. Shane with a 360 Shuv, Cameron with a pop in manual all the way down! Zorro perfect varial heelflip and 2nd try 360 flip. And the most amazing trick was Dee with a fakie flip to switch bomb. Theres no way anyone wants to step to that! Trust me, its steeper than it looks in photos.

We even found local spots, at our spots, that we had never seen. This is a sick 8 stair wallride potential. Even sicker, a perfect 13 rail and hubba. Memphis doesn't have a such thing as perfect so when you find one, its amazing. I didn't get any photos of the rail but Bambei 5050d it 1st go! Lipslide in just a few tries, and hammer laying Dee FS boardslide because Reynolds demands it!

After a sick last night session and only 3 FU Crue members remain, we decided the only way to end the trip was burn all the brush away from our spot. We had been schwillin lots of brew before and Urban Arson seemed like a good plan!

Dee is beat! Baker's newest flow trash, we are super stoked for this kid, hes killin it!

I went there today to get a few pictures of the full thing since it was dark the other day when we layed the bricks.

There is still a little work that needs to be done before this can be skated so just keep waiting. It will be worth it I promise.

We waited and waited for the rain to stop yesterday and when it finally was dry enough, with about an hour of light left, we went to the pit and began layin down some pool coping. Ulander and Bambei scored these awesome looking baby blue blocks from an abandoned, soon to be demolished, hotel near by. I was able to snap these 2 pictures before the light went away. We had to finish the rest in the dark but it looked good when we went to leave. The only problem is that about an hour after finishing, we got more rain. The weather may not have affected it though. Also, once again we have been lied to by the weather channel, its not sunny at all today. We were really counting on the sun to come out to get those blocks nice and dry, hope they work out good. Don't try and shred the bricks until at least Sunday, we want to make sure they turn out proper. Old Dirty Binguin

Binger came home for a quick visit from Portland on Monday. It was a huge stoke up for everyone, especially me and his pops, Butch. I picked him up at the airport at 7:30 A.M. Monday morning and we immediately went and grabbed up a keg of PBR. Although it was a short trip, we had a really good time. Monday night everyone came over to see Binger and celebrate. Everyday we skated and partied and just had an all around good time. The last full night he was in town, a really rad bowl session went down and everyone showed up. Like all great things, it finally had to end. Jordan was non-stop on the scene filming everything and he put together a not so edited montage with some of that gangsta shit!

This Is Looking Sick!

This morning we woke up, Wrex was back in town, and we went to the spot to finish the job off. Although there were a few hours of work to be done, we couldn't start working without a session going off. Bambei and Wrex killed the spot! Keep in mind that there was at least a foot of nothing from the tranny shelf to the lip, meaning you had to pop out of almost everything. Unless of course, you are Hammond who somehow slash grinded and rolled over the shelf part, which sticks out about an inch an a half from the wall. After the session went down we got to work. Once again, thanks so much to Wrex for coming down here and offering us his skill! Thanks also to Chris Ulander, Bambei, and Tara for going out and snagging about 20 pool blocks from a demolished hotel, this QP is about to be so rad!

Coming Together

First of all, yesterday's pour would have never happened if Wrex, Mike, and Hammond hadn't put in so much effort. Also a big thanks to Mike Lassiter for helping with the design. Gonz put in a full two days to build something that he claims he won't be able to skate. Wrex and Kim drove down from Oxford to show us the ways of building tranny. We couldn't have done this without some outside help, just like the old Altown QP. We all came together though and worked our asses off all day. Thanks to everyone that came out to help, donate or just lurk around and offer moral support, it was a great day! After the pour we caught a ramp session, cooked some food, and skated up to the Hitone for an awesome show by Thee Oh Sees. This San Francisco band always plays really close together and on the floor. I saw them one other time at Goner Fest but this time was a way better show. Yesterday was really awesome!

So wait until at least Sunday of this week to skate it, Binger will be in town then and will most likely be on the first session for the spot. DO NOT SKATE THIS YET! Workday Sunday 2-20, We Need You're Help

As most of you know, we are trying to get this spot on Evelyn rolling, and with the nice weather, its been time to get to work. We already have a sick pole jam and a ledge, but theres something missing. Transition! All good DIY spots need some slash, so with the help of concrete master Mike "Gonz" Ettleman, and ripper/experienced park builder Wrex Cook, we are going to lay it out on Sunday. We need you're help though. We will need shovels, brooms, wheelbarrows, and hands to help. We need people to mix crete and keep the stuff coming. Also, we could greatly use donations because here on Trife Street we can't pay for all of this. We already paid for the concrete in advance and it was around 130 bones for all of it. Any kind of contribution will be greatly appreciated so please help in any way you can. 65 and Sunny, Layin Life Hammers in the Rock!

Sunday was 65 degrees or almost so, no clouds in sight, that means its time to take it to Little Rock, a favorite destination of the Trife Street crew. We rolled 3 cars deep this time with a proper crew of rippers. We left town with one on the injured list but came back with two, I myself was properly beaten as well but still standin. We had Jordan, myself, Tnell, Hunter, Darius, Mike, Toby (with broke leg), Nollie, Bambei (came back with broken hand), Hammond, Sip Cup, Swamp Lizard, Wrex, and Kimmo! Thats a hell of a crew. We got to Little Rock and all the homies came out, Colt, Alan, Tyler, Ron, Georgie, Sleezy, and Ryan. We skated the River park for about two hours to warm up. Bambei was blastin the most insane stales off the slingshot into the bank! Wrex obviously killin, Sip Cup was slashin as usual, and Swamp Lizard even through a stinktail in the deep!

After River park, we went and checked out Daniel Haney's (former Arcade skateboards pro) new indoor park. Haney is a cool guy tryin to help out his hometown scene. This park is small but looks super fun, quick trannys and a full on vert ramp. We showed up to Brock and Catfish Lee working and lurking the warehouse. I got Sleezy to take me to vinos to meet up with Will while the other dudes caught a quickie. The crew later met up with us at Vinos, a food staple for every Little Rock trip.

Index is alive and well in the Vinos bathroom. I slapped this one up about 2 years ago. Strategic placement leads to longevity!

Meanwhile at the warehouse, things are looking good

So its been snowing and freezing in Memphis all week (it is winter) but today was around 50 degrees so we went and got to work. Hammond got busy smoothing a rough spot in front of our ledge at the "new spot" and hammered out a hole to put a new pole jam in. Although I showed up late in the game, I still helped do a bit of this and that, hammer the hole and smooth some crete. We got the pole jam laid into a hole thats about 6 inches thick... That sounded funny. Anyway, its a big fat pole, go ride it!

Los Angeles duo No Age played here Tuesday night. I went and caught the last half of the show. I would have been there earlier but I was waiting on my buddy Jordan to get off work. Usually at the Hi Tone in Memphis, bands never start on time, but I guess this time was different. We only heard like 6 songs or so, maybe 30 minutes of music. The show, what we did see, was pretty good though. The only thing that sucked was that beer was super expensive. Ive been gettin really sick of Memphis bars lately, either its too expensive or the bartenders are dicks or both. Fuck it, stay home and listen to records instead.

Binger has a couple of sick lines in it so I figured I would post it up. The other dudes are shreddin too. Sunday work and skate day

Yesterday was cold, as usual. Everyone hit up a killer Little Rock session Saturday (except me) so yesterday was sort of slow for the skating. Check the Trife Blogfor some photos of the sesh. We decided to pour some crete into the barrier we found last weekend and even got in good with the business owner across the way from where we are pouring! After getting up later than planned, we still got the job done in under 2 hours. Then we decided to hit up some spots around town to see if anything was going to happen.

Houston Dust Bowl

This is the best park Memphis currently has to offer. Bummer. Ive been skating here since I was just a little guy getting dropped off by my mom for the 8 hour session with the homies, better pack a lunch. The park doesnt get called the dustbowl for nothin though, its always the dirtiest crap park ever. Even though the park totally sucks, the sessions go down all the time, especially in the summer. The dust bowl is home to a lot of us. Enjoy this montage by local Houston regulator, Jordan, biggest ass hole at the park. So nothing much to it yet, but with a few bags of crete and a broom session, this under a bridge jersey barrier could be a really fun spot to hit. What you can't see is the one next to the left pillar is actually a curved barrier, can we say, pocket? This is just a spot we stumbled upon yesterday while out scroungin Memphis for undiscovered spots. Although the session yesterday was pretty unsuccessful, we found this and at least have something to look forward to building this coming up weekend! Never stop searchin!

So in light of Index Ink not making skateboards and focusing all of their efforts to the clothing line, I have been asked by Cooper Skateboards if I wanted to be on the team. I am super stoked to be a part of it because the dudes heading it up, Christian and Grant have been good buddies of mine for years now, and its a local Memphis company. Im stoked to have ridden Index boards for as long as they were around and am still stoked to rock the shit out of the gear, but now, im also stoked to be riding Cooper Skateboards. Check em out at their blog for updates on what everyone is to. Another plus to ridding for cooper is that everyone on the team is a good friend of mine. Thanks a lot to Chad and Teff for always making sure I was riding a good board, you guys have been so rad to me and continue to be amazing!

Little Rock Session with BMK

A lot of cool stuff went down in Little Rock on Sunday. Its impossible not to have a rad session when you pile 10 folks in 2 cars, and then meet up with 10 other dudes from the Rock. We cruised out early with a sick crew of dudes, and one chick, and got to Kanis hole and DIY at around 11. We got stuck there for so long because the session was too good! Every time I go there though, the bowl hole has some sort of water or leaves, or this time, both. OG pool ripper and Toast Skateboards pro Wrex Cook, had no problem slashin around the piles and puddles and scorched that bowl, not to mention his rip-a-thon on the diy. Kanis has come up since i was last there and they are doing a hell of a job. Thanks a lot to 50 Kent, Steve, Ryan, Brown Ron, Brock, Matt, Catfish, and all the other homies who have put in so much time and effort. Little Rock is a home away from home, just the good ol' boys! WOOWEE!

So Much Shreddin! Wrex was the first to invert this ever, and Jack nailed the Boneless!

You see, the state of Arkansas is crazy and doesn't sell any sort of booze on Sunday. Since we go to Jonesboro so often on Sunday's we are used to getting brew either the night before, or usually we just wait until noon in Memphis to pick some up. Since we left so early, we were unable to get beer and everyone forgot the night before. And as we all know, a Kanis session without Ice Cold is almost not allowed. Luckily the local boys had come prepared and in addition, Little Rock has a few brew pubs where you can pick up cold beer to go somehow on Sunday. We usually hit Vino's Pizza to eat and get a few pints but the locals told us about another place we'd not heard of called Diamond Bear. We hit that place up for a few cases and then barged Kent's house to skate his wingnut of a ramp and grill out. Kent's ramp is one of the wildest backyard mini's I've seen in a while. Extension city with pool block and oververt, it was a tough session. We hit that, and then after a while, hit Riverview skatepark, and then cruised home, it was a hell of a day. Many tricks, and even more slams later!

BMK took off to Portland in July with Binger and has been out there doin it up right. With a job, a house, and a crew of rad skaters, (including some notable pros,) BMK is killin it! He came home for the holidays and we are so stoked to see him back around Trife Street. We are headed down to Little Rock this weekend so prepare yourself for the stoke! It was freezing and somewhat snowy here in Memphis yesterday and it was starting to look like a bummer of a Sunday. With no place to go shred without freezing to death we started just drinkin beer and editing footage for the upcoming Trife Street video. A buddy called and wanted to skate the ramp and all of the sudden there were like 15 people at the house shreddin. We were shootin off fire works yelling and rippin the ramp. Everyone got all stoked because the sun came out and I convinced everyone to go to this street spot and try and get tricks. We went, froze to death, and only one dude skated the spot. After that we went and ate Mexican food and then came home to a impromptu Trife Street Christmas Card photo shoot! Haha, done up rad!

First Real Ledge Sesh

When we thought we could just use liquid nail to put the angle iron on the ledge at the new spot, we were wrong, it was just a couple grinds before it fell off. Today we went and bought some concrete anchors and some more liquid nail and did things right. We caught a sesh for a while, I slipped out and my board went to the drink, and some random guy with a camera wanted to take pics of the graffiti and gave us a cold 12!

We have gotten started on the new spot in Memphis finally. Once again, we are probably blowin it by not having any sort of permission to build here, so we will see how long it lasts. It doesnt matter anyway, its better to ask forgiveness than permission. We will just keep building here until they either give it to us, or take it away, thats what this is all about anyway! Nobody ever asks permission in skateboarding, thats lame. So to get the spot kicked off, we built a 13 ft long double sided ledge over a water pit to keep it interesting. Next project will be an up ledge and a quarter pipe with molded pool coping! Woohoo! Check out Trife Street for updates and ways to donate!

I got a few things to be thankful for, The first and foremost is that our crazy neighbor, meth out Sonya, MOVED OUT!!!!! So rad, at first, we weren't sure if it was going to happen for real, we just didn't see her around. Its been like a full week since i've seen anybody there and the last thing i saw was them moving out furniture. Awesome! Plus, i got to eat a bunch of killer food today. So basically, thanks for that!

Pizza Club!!!

The Trife Street crew holds Pizza Club every Tuesday night. Basically its where you get some fools together and create different kinds of pizza to share. Its BYOP but everyone eats everyones pizza. Its basically just to make and eat pizza, hang out and drink beer. Basically its the sickest thing ever. Last nights meeting was the best yet. We had a few new joiners come out hard! Nollieflip came through on a pesto pizza that was vegan on one side as our homie and og club member Chris O is vegan. Allie came down from Oxford and made a roasted red pepper, artichoke, caramelized onion, and goat cheese pizza and then made a dessert pizza with vanilla bean sauce, walnuts and pear with caramel on top! Also for the first time, I grilled a pizza! It wasn't anything special but it was cool to try something new! Club de Pizza Para la Vida!

Sunday Street Mission

Yesterday was a super successful street session. The homies showed up around 1030 in the morning and it was a full on session by 11. This is whats up! Normally we go out of town on Sunday and hit some parks or something but we felt the need to stay home and take care of business. Almost everyone came through on gettin some tricks filmed, those who didnt still put in a lot of effort to get something. We came home later in the afternoon and skated the ramp for a while and grilled out. Everything was going good and then our crazy methed out neighbor that was in the Helloween video, came yelling and screamin for us to mind our own business and got in our yard, on our porch, and would not leave. We took this opportunity to film her maddness and take some photos to which she did not appreciate, she jumped up and tried to take Jordan's camera and it took three of us to physically remove her from our porch. We had to call the cops and as usual, they did nothing but yell at her and make her go inside. Crazy day for sure, keep an eye out because the footage should be too funny!

So the whole weekend went off like crazy, the boys from Little Rock showed up and thrashed our ramp down, then we went and hit the party super tough at the bowl! Shit got wild and somehow i ended up punchin out local ripper, Jungle Jeff! Sorry Jeff, you had it coming though, anyway, after the party and campout at Terrortopia, we brought the keg back to our house only to find our jacked ass meth face neighbor on top of her car rantin about who knows what. She is a major feature in this montage, and trust me, this is an almost daily occurrence! Enjoy!
